Built a Simple Platform to Help Small Food Businesses Thrive
Hi HN,
I’m a solo developer, and over the past few months, I’ve been working on a platform called Chewchatter. It’s designed to help small food businesses like food trucks, takeaways, and local restaurants digitize their operations and connect more effectively with customers.
Small food businesses are often run by one or two people juggling everything—taking orders, managing inventory, marketing, and more. Many rely on traditional methods like WhatsApp DMs, handwritten menus, or social media posts to manage orders, which wastes time and creates hidden costs.
Chewchatter solves this by offering a lightweight, affordable platform where businesses can:
Create a professional online menu with their branding.
Let customers place orders directly via WhatsApp, keeping it simple and familiar.
Use tools like a marketing poster generator for social media.
Gain insights with an analytics dashboard to see what’s selling and when.
Share their business with a QR code for instant access.
For customers: It’s a super simple way to discover local food businesses, explore their menus, and place orders without the friction of back-and-forth conversations.
I’ve started small, focusing on local food trucks and takeaways, and so far, two of my initial businesses have actively adopted Chewchatter. But I want to grow and learn from the broader community.
Why I Built This
I’ve always admired how passionate small food business owners are, but many don’t have the time or resources to manage their operations efficiently or reach a broader audience. Chewchatter is my attempt to provide an accessible solution that gives them time back and helps them grow.
What I’d Love From You
Feedback: What do you think about this idea? Are there features you think would resonate more with small businesses?
Exposure: If you know any small food business owners who could benefit from this, I’d love for you to share it with them.
Ideas: How would you approach building an audience or scaling a tool like this?
You can check it out on the link for chewchatter.
I’m happy to answer any questions or chat about the journey of building and growing something like this. Thanks for reading, and I’d love to hear your thoughts!
